Always nice to rememember those that came before us. It may have been just another Saturday afternoon on the baseball field, but players at Jenkins High took a moment to honor a man they never played for.
Saturday was Terry Webb day at Jenkins. Webb was a legendary head coach in the area having coached at Windsor Forest for over a decade. Then later at Jenkins for 17 years. Saturday afternoon coach Webb was invited back to throw out the first pitch before the Warriors game against Ware County. He was honored to do so. He says it seemed like old times.
“I was a little bit nervous to throw out that first pitch” he said. “But the smell, the grass, the players. Baseball is baseball, it never changes.” “I was here when we built this field. It was just a nice feeling to know somebody still knows you.”
Chris Heldon singled in the first scoring Jenkins only run of the game. 11-1 Ware County wins.
