PEMBROKE, N.C. – The Armstrong Atlantic State University women's basketball team used a balanced scoring effort in notching its fourth straight win, defeating UNC Pembroke, 82-56, in Peach Belt Conference action on Saturday afternoon in Pembroke, N.C.

All twelve players for the Pirates (13-6, 8-5 PBC) who played broke into the scoring column as UNC Pembroke (7-13, 3-10 PBC) drops its fourth game out of its last five with the loss.
Armstrong scored the first seven points of the contest and raced out to a quick 10-2 lead in the game's first three minutes. The Pirates extended that lead to 16, 42-24, at the break. Senior Mauri Wells nearly had a double-double in the first half alone with seven points and eight rebounds.

In the second half, freshman Brigitta Barta made three straight baskets in a minute's time to extend the Armstrong lead to 57-33 with 12:46 remaining, and the Pirates held the Braves without a field goal for a six-minute stretch to come away with the victory.
Four Pirates scored 10 points exactly to lead the balanced scoring – seniors Stephenie Coney, Bryonna Davis, junior Dee Hayward and Barta. Wells finished a point shy of a double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds.

Jazmine Kemp led a trio of Braves in double figures with a game-high 13 points. Kierra Haney added 12 points and Avae' Hardy added 11.

The Pirates return to action on Thursday, February 6, hosting Flagler in a 5:30 p.m. Peach Belt Conference contest at Alumni Arena. The game will be televised on a tape-delay basis by WSAV-TV 3.
