Keith Gosse has been “relieved of his duties” as head football coach at McIntosh County Academy in Darien.
Gosse tells WSAV he was told “there were a few less players on the football team and ticket sales were down” which was the reason for his dismissal.
The Buccaneers suffered several injuries throughout the 2013 season, including two ACL tears.
Gosse was hired to replace Robby Robinson prior to the 2011 season. Gosse led the Bucs to the playoffs in his first season accumulating a 4-7 overall record.
In 2012 the Bucs went 9-3 reaching the second round of the GHSA playoffs.
This past season MCA won five of 10 games.
His 18-15 overall record included an 18-10 mark in Region 2-AA.
Gosse, his wife and three children moved from Tift County where he coached to take over the MCA program.
Gosse is still employed by the school system teaching health and physical education.
The MCA Bucs defeated Jeff Davis on the WSAV Thursday Night Blitz Game of the Week back on October 17.
Gosse is the third local head football coaching change in our coverage area. WSAV FIRST reported locally the following:
Bacon County High School (Hildrick Garrison)
Toombs County High School (Steve Versprille)
McIntosh County Academy (Keith Gosse)
