The Tri-County RC Flyers to host fundraiser in support of the Wounded Warrior Project and to celebrate National Model Aviation Day, as part of the Academy of Model Aeronautics' mission to promote model aviation.
Tri-County RC Flyers will host an event in celebration of National Model Aviation Day on 17 August 2013 in support of the Academy of Model Aeronautics mission to promote development of model aviation as a recognized sport and worthwhile recreation activity. The AMA serves as official national body for model aviation in the United States. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the nonprofit organization Wounded Warrior Project (WWP), and will support a full range of programs and services for this generation of injured veterans and their families.
The public is invited to celebrate National Model Aviation Day with the members of the Tri-County RC Flyers at the SSG Anthony Davis Memorial RC Airfield from 9 AM until 3 PM. The field is located just off Hwy 17 about 1 Mile south of the McDonalds on Chatham Parkway and Hwy 17. Signs will be posted to show the way.
The club welcomes all interested R/C flyers and their families to come out. There will be planes available for flight lessons with an AMA approved pilot. Come enjoy a flight lesson without the fear of crashing. All pilots will be “tethered” to the flight instructor with a buddy box. This ensures your flight to be safe and enjoyable while learning how to fly.
Tri-County R/C Flyers will have a static display of all types of aircraft. From Prop driven trainers to a jet with a real turbine engine.
They will also have several flight demonstrations to include:
- “3D” Flying
- R/C Helicopter demonstration
- FPV (First person video) Quadcopter flight demonstration
Warbirds- to include the famous P-51's P-47 and Corsairs! There will be a fly by in formation that will certainly please the crowd.
There will be food and cold drinks available at a nominal charge. There will also be a raffle for prizes and all proceeds will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project.
