The 5th Annual Tour de Kids Fundraiser

Five years ago Marlie Stineman, a quiet yet caring 3rd grader learned that there were homeless children in Savannah and it made her sad. She was concerned that children her age actually had nowhere to sleep and no place to call home; but she wondered what she could do to help. Marlie, along with Montie Acuff, then Board Chair of Interfaith Hospitality Network, put their heads together and created Tour de Kids, a bicycle tour around the park to raise money for homeless children. The 5th Annual Tour De Kids will take place on May 18th, 2012 at Lake Mayer. At the end of the tour, the children will enjoy carnival style activities, entertainment, healthy snacks and safe kids' information.

Marlie is now a 7th grade student at Oglethorpe Charter Academy and an active member of the Tour de Kids planning committee. She is challenging areas schools and youth groups to fundraise to support the event. Participating groups will receive free event T-shirts and the group raising the most funds will receive an end of the school year party sponsored by Amerigroup with games, snacks, music, prizes & more!
