Please join Chairpersons J. R. and Leslie Richardson and WSAV's Tina Tyus Shaw for the American Heart Association's HeartWalk on Saturday, April 13th, 2013. The event will begin in the heart of Hilton Head Island's “downtown,” Coligny Plaza Shopping Center, in the parking area in front of the Piggly Wiggly supermarket.

Numerous local businesses and corporations will be on hand to distribute event souvenirs, display exhibits, and provide heart-healthy refreshments. Live entertainment will be featured prior to the walk beginning at 9:00 a.m. The first mile of the route meanders through the quaint and picturesque North Forest Beach neighborhood on the low-traffic residential streets of Avocet Road, Lagoon Road, Park Lane, Heron Street, Dune Lane, and finally Dove Street. The walkers will enter North Forest Beach via the beach access at the end of Dove Street, and the route's second mile will take participants down Hilton Head Island's world-famous beach, passing Coligny Beach and the famous Tiki Hut at The Beach House Resort. Proceeding onto South Forest Beach, participants will leave the beach at the Town's Alder Lane public beach access just beyond the Marriott Vacation Club's fabulous Grande Ocean Resort. After crossing South Forest Beach Drive, the third mile of the walk will return participants to the Town of Hilton Head Island's recently renovated Coligny Beach Park via the Town pathway that runs alongside South Forest Beach Drive. Participants will enter the beach park at the entrance adjacent to its signature interactive fountains, and refreshments will be provided within the beach park to participants to help them celebrate the completion of the three-mile HeartWalk.

Free: No Fees

Walkers are eligible for a Heart Walk t-shirt once they have raised a minimum of $100.
