Doug Dixon is the New Head Football Coach at St. Andrew's School

(Savannah, GA) – St. Andrew's School on Wilmington Island has named Doug Dixon as its new head football coach.  Dixon comes from Mount Pisgah where he served as head football coach and athletic director for the past six years.

Dixon played for Irk Russell at Georgia Southern University.  He coached briefly at Jenkins High school in Savannah.

Dixon replaces Brock Miller, who resigned to pursue other opportunities.

St. Andrew's
Names New Head Football Coach

St. Andrew's School is pleased to announce that Doug Dixon has
accepted the position of head football coach for the Fighting Lions.  Dixon has served as Athletic Director and
Head Football Coach at Mount Pisgah for the past six years.  Prior to that, he was Athletic Director and
Head Coach at Riverside Military Academy.

“Doug is a high energy guy and has consistently been
associated with winning programs ,” said Mark Toth, Head of School.  “He knows that success on the field begins
with hard work and preparation.  I look
forward to watching him mentor and coach our student athletes.”

At Mount Pisgah, Dixon grew the football program from 48
players on a Varsity and MS team to a football program boasting 160 players,
ranging from grades 2 through 12.  He was
named All Area Coach in 2012, took the Varsity team to playoffs for the first
time in school history and was proud to have eight alums playing at the
collegiate level.

When Dixon arrived at Riverside, he inherited 22 football
players and a five-year losing streak. 
Under his leadership, the team took top honors as the 2005 State Champs,
broke numerous school records and had four graduates playing in the
Southeastern Conference.

Dixon received his Bachelor of Science and Masters of
Education from Georgia Southern University. 
While attending GSU, he played football for Coach Erk Russell.   He
began his coaching career in Savannah at Jenkins High and is pleased to be
returning home with his family.  

“It is an honor to be selected as the football coach for St.
Andrew's School,” said Dixon.  “My goal
is to provide the students with the skills needed for success on and off the
field.”
