Matt Devitt has been a member of Storm Team 3 since July 2012 and joins WSAV after spending 2 years in Tornado Alley as the morning meteorologist for both KTEN-TV and KHBS/KHOG-TV in Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas.  Born and raised on the east coast of Florida, Matt experienced all types of weather in the Sunshine State, including intense afternoon thunderstorms, powerful hurricanes, and even tornadoes.

One storm in particular, when he was seven years old, helped to develop his strong interest in meteorology. As he watched from his window, a funnel cloud passed directly over his house minutes before it touched down. To continue his passion for weather, Matt attended the Pennsylvania State University and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology. While at Penn State, Matt was actively involved in the university's Campus Weather Service, which is the largest student run weather service in the country. He created detailed radio and video forecasts that were put online and went to various clients.

During the summer of 2008, Matt interned at WFLA-TV in Tampa, Florida, working with meteorologist Megan Hatton and learning all there is to know about becoming a broadcast meteorologist. It was a very fun and valuable experience that he will never forget. Some of Matt's hobbies include going to the beach, watching pretty much every type of sport there is, golfing, working out, hanging out with friends and family, and of course, the weather. He's also a huge fan of Penn State athletics, the Astros/Rays, the Texans, and the Rockets. Although Matt's time in Tornado Alley was memorable, he's happy to be with WSAV forecasting all types of weather that our area has to offer.
