Kris Hummer has been with WSAV since 2003.
Kris has worked in television since 1987. She began her career at WYFF in Greenville, SC. Working her way up through the ranks, she performed myriad jobs including behind-the-scenes production work and writing and producing for a half-hour kids' show.
In 1995, she moved to Cleveland, OH. At WOIO/WUAB, Kris was a promotion writer/ producer. As an added bonus, the avid baseball fan worked as an in-studio director for Cleveland Indians' games. (Go Tribe!) She fondly looks back on being part of many national stories such as the opening of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Indians going to the World Series for the first time in a million years, and the Cleveland Browns sneaking out of town in the middle of the night to move to Baltimore. (But she's not bitter about that at all…thanks a lot, Art Modell!).
She has lived all over the US: Rochester, NY; back to Cleveland, OH; Youngstown, OH; and Buffalo, NY…all in a 3 year period!
Then Savannah beckoned and they never looked back.
Kris really enjoys being part of the newsroom. Her title is Media Content Producer and she loves the immediacy of contributing to local news and WSAV.com. About 6 months ago, she became part of the Coastal Sunrise on-air team. Every weekday morning she brings you the Coastal Link (“It's the Coastal Link! Everything you need to know about where you live all in one convenient place!”). What's her favorite part of getting up in the middle of the night to come to work? Spending time with Kim Gusby, Lee Haywood and the entire Coastal Sunrise crew.
She and Ken live in Savannah with their daughter, Megan and dogs, Ruby and Gigi.
