Ken Slats

Ken Slats is Sports Director/Anchor at WSAV-TV, and MyLC. Slats anchors and reports on local sports throughout the year. He brings more than two decades of sports anchoring and reporting experience to News 3 On Your Side.

In addition to his duties on the anchor desk, Slats provides play-by-play for the WSAV Thursday Night Blitz Game of the Week (High School Football) and the Blitz Basketball Series.

As a native Cleveland, Ohioan, Slats moved to South Carolina to take his first sports anchor/reporter job at the ABC affiliate in Florence in 1992. After three years in the Southeast he moved on to the CBS affiliate in Cleveland covering the Browns, Cavs, Indians and Crunch soccer. But his passion for covering the local stories and features is what really keeps him in the business. Stops at television stations in Reno, Nevada, Rochester, New York, and Youngstown, Ohio have given him a taste of the sports world in all market sizes.

Slats has received the following journalism awards:

2010 Edward R. Murrow Award for “Excellence in Journalism” (Sports Reporting)

Slats spends his “free” time trying to keep up with his 15-year-old daughter, Megan.  Slats is also an avid golfer and huge John Daly fan.
